Men's Basketball Drops Road Tilt at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (4-6, 1-4 NJAC) was unable to overcome a first-half double-digit deficit and ultimately fell to Rowan (5-3, 4-1 NJAC), 84-74, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road game Dec. 14. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers trailed by double figures early after Rowan opened the game on a 16-0 run.
  • The two sides began trading baskets and WP went into the half down by 11 (44-33).
  • The Profs maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half to secure the conference home win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior Neftali Valentin (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) dropped a career-high 29 points on 12-of-16 (.750) shooting with five rebounds and three steals. 
  • Senior David Martinez (Maywood, N.J./Hackensack) scored 17 points to pair with nine boards.
  • Senior Andre Wells (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) went 4-for-8 (.500) from the floor and a flawless 7-for-7 (1.000) from the foul line for a 15-point performance. 
 
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will head to Patchogue, N.Y., Monday, Dec. 30, for a non-conference game against St. Joseph's (L.I.) at 1:00 p.m.
