Football Sees Season End with Senior Day Loss to Rowan

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson football team (1-9, 0-6 NJAC) saw its season come to an end with a 45-0 Senior Day loss to Rowan (6-4, 4-2 NJAC) Nov. 16 at Wightman Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Profs built a two-score lead during the first quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run (7-0, 4:00) and a 16-yard pass play (14-0, 2:45).
  • Rowan added a seven-yard TD on the ground (21-0, 12:00) and a 21-yard score through the air (28-0, 1:40) before halftime.
  • The Profs punched in a two-yard touchdown 55 seconds before the end of the third quarter (35-0), then posted a 47-yard pass (42-0, 12:30) and a 40-yard field goal (45-0, 6:43) during the fourth period.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore quarterback Mahsiah McRae (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Central) was 9-for-20 for 49 yards and three interceptions under center.
  • Junior Kyree Hinton (Somerville, N.J./Somerville) caught three passes for 30 yards.
  • Junior defensive lineman Quamire Green (Brick, N.J./Donovan Catholic) made nine tackles, and junior linebacker Jayce Harmon (Milford, Del./Sussex Tech) added eight stops.
  • Prior to the game the Pioneers honored their eight seniors: Nick Bianco (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove), Tye Brookins (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Twp.), Taron Gale (Sicklerville, N.J./Winslow), Jojo Kirby (Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen), Isaiah Leeks (Neptune, N.J./Neptune), Ethan Mayes (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough), Tyrell Wigfall (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Twp.) and Samod Wingo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Twp.).
  • Also prior to kickoff, WP honored long-time assistant coach Greg Lusardi, who is retiring after 17 seasons on the Pioneers' sideline.
