Men's Swimming and Diving Achieves Fourth Straight Victory, Defeats Maritime 108-78

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (7-1) extend their winning streak to four with a 108-78 victory over Maritime (2-2), Nov. 12 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) posted first-place finishes in the 500 free (5:24.37) and the 1000 free (10:55.63).
  • Senior Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech) touched the wall first in the 200 free (2:06.90).
  • Freshman Mario Pontidis (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) won the 50 free (23.22).
  • Senior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) triumphed in the 200 IM (2:19.86).
  • Freshman Derek Gutowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxburry) secured victory in the 100 back (1:01.43).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech) secured a personal record in the 200 free (2:06.90).
  • Gutowski posted personal bests in the 100 back (1:01:43) and 1000 free (11:42.44).
  • Freshman Ismael Lamar (Lyndhurst, N.J./Lyndhurst) shaved time off his 200 free best (2:08.27).
  • Freshman Christian Scerbo (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park) set a new personal record in the 1000 free (15:00.99).
