Men’s Soccer Ends Regular Season with Emphatic 4-0 Victory at New Jersey City

Four Different Pioneers Score Against Gothic Knights

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (9-7-3, 3-6 NJAC) finished its regular season with an emphatic 4-0 victory at New Jersey City (6-10-3, 0-9 NJAC) Oct. 30.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Freshman Davide Zamuner (Piverone, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Statale A. Gramsci) put the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the 61st minute, finishing off a pass from senior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway).
  • Navas made it 2-0 William Paterson seven minutes later with a successful penalty kick.
  • WP extended its lead to 3-0 at the 69:55 mark when junior Dylan Nahas (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) connected on an assist by junior Jimmy Bruno (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan).
  • Junior Jonathan Antonio (Edison, N.J./Edison) found classmate Filippo Dapelo (Genoa, Italy/Liceo Linguistico Internazionale Grazie Daledda) during the 74th minute for the Pioneers' fourth goal of the day.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Luka Misko made one save for his second save of the year.
  • With his goal and assist, Navas now stands at 32 points this season (12 g, 8 a). He now stands tied for fifth in points, tied for sixth in game-winning goals (three) and tied for seventh in assists on the WP single-season charts. For his career, Navas owns 37 goals (fourth at WP), 13 assists (10th), 87 points (fifth) and five game-winning goals (tied-seventh).
  • Nahas, Zamuner and Dapelo each found the back of the net for the sixth time this year. Bruno's assist was his fifth of the fall, while Antonio produced his first.
 
UP NEXT:
  • The Pioneers will wait until Nov. 11 to find out if they are selected for the ECAC Tournament field.
