Box Score WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team (1-0) earned a 5-2 win in its 2024-25 season opener against FDU-Florham (1-2) Oct. 2 at the Dr. Ginny Overdorf Tennis Courts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Sophomore Isabella Paladino (Leonardo, N.J./Middletown South) won in third singles (6-1, 7-5).
• Sophomore Emily Hoosack (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) earned a win in fourth singles (4-6, 6-4, 10-4).
• Sophomore Joy Shand (Canton, Conn./Canton) captured a win in fifth singles (6-1, 6-1).
• Sophomore Makayla Yancey (Phoenix, Ariz./Ridgeline Academy) made her collegiate debut and won in sixth singles (6-1, 6-3).
• William Paterson earned the doubles point after Hoosack and Yancey won 6-1 in second doubles before senior Sara Thomas (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) and Shand claimed a 6-1 victory in third doubles.
