Men's Swimming and Diving Drops Final Dual Meet to Montclair State

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (12-3) dropped its final dual meet of the season to Montclair State (5-5), 124-55, Jan. 30 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) placed first in the 400 IM (4:52.34).
  • Freshman Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) posted a first-place finish in the 100 breast (1:15.31).
  • The Pioneers notched 11 points with their victory in the 400-free relay with efforts by Melli, senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech), senior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech) and freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), finishing with a time of 3:41.24.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Kane posted a personal best in the 100 breast (1:15.31).
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson competes in the first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimming & Diving Championships which will take place Thursday, Feb. 15 to Sunday, Feb. 18 at the University of Maryland Natatorium in College Park, Maryland.
