Men's Swimming and Diving Wins Sixth Straight in 109-78 Victory Over Lehman

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving (11-2) earned its sixth straight win, defeating Lehman (5-4) 109-78 Jan. 23 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) led the Pioneers with victories in the 1,000 free (11:34.09) and 500 free (5:29.08).
  • Senior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech) won the 200 breast (2:50.22).
  • Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) earned first in a close 200-free race (1:55.12). Melli beat Lehman's Roger Sanchez by .05 seconds the win.
  • The Pioneers won the 400-free relay with efforts by Arias, senior Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), junior Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech) and freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), finishing with a time of 3:50.53.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Arias posted a personal best in the 1,000 free (11:34.09).
  • Junior Peter Usher (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) secured personal records in the 50 free (26.51) and 100 free (1:01.82).
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson travels to Danbury, Conn. on Saturday, Jan. 27 for a 12 p.m. meet against Western Connecticut State.
