Men's Swimming and Diving Extends Win Streak to Five on Senior Day

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving (10-2) celebrated Senior Day with a 40-36 win over Bard (2-9) to extend its win streak to five Jan. 20 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) posted a first-place finish in the 1,000 free (11:41.47).
  • Senior Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) touched the wall first in the 50 free (27.21).
  • The Pioneers posted 11 points in the 200-medley relay, with efforts by sophomore Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison), senior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech), freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional), and freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), finishing with a time of 1:58.09.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Melli posted personal bests in the 200 free (1:54.03) and 100 free (52.17).
  • Junior Peter Usher (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) secured personal records in the 50 free (27.54) and 100 free (1:02.57).
  • Russel shredded time off his 100-fly best (1:13.06).
  • WP honored its seniors Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech), Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech) and Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany).

  • William Paterson returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 23 for a 6:00 p.m. meet against Lehman at Wightman Pool.
