Men's Swimming and Diving Dominates at Mount Saint Mary, 102-55

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving (9-2) was back in action for the first time in 2024 with a dominant 102-55 performance at Mount Saint Mary (4-8).
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) posted victories in the 200 IM (2:18.32) and 100 back (1:02.69).
  • Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) earned two first-place finishes in the 1,000 free (10:59.62) and 500 free (5:23.12).
  • Junior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) touched the wall first in the 200 free (2:13.12).
  • Freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.) finished first in the 100 free (56.38).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Peter Usher (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) posted personal bests in the 50 free (27.83) and 100 free (1:05.73).

  • William Paterson hosts SUNY-Delhi at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at Wightman Pool.
