Men's Soccer Earns 2-1 Road Victory Against Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (2-0) secured a 2-1 road victory against non-conference opponent Centenary (0-2) Sept. 3.
 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers got on the scoreboard early with a goal by junior Gianfranco Banca (Queens, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), assisted by sophomore Jimmy Bruno (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan), in the third minute.
  •  Junior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) added the winning goal in the 75th minute.
  • The Cyclones cut the lead to one with a late goal in the 87th minute.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Navas recorded his third goal of the opening weekend.
  • Banca earned his second goal of the season and Bruno posted his first collegiate assist.
  • Freshman Max Snell (Laren, Netherlands/St. Vitus College H.S.) made his collegiate debut, making one save in goal.

  • William Paterson travels to La Plume, Pa., for a non-conference matchup against Keystone Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7:00 p.m.
