Blount Brace Lifts Men’s Soccer to 3-0 Triumph

Pioneers Defeat Delaware Valley

WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman Jaden Blount's (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) brace finished off a 3-0 William Paterson men's soccer (4-1) triumph against visiting Delaware Valley (1-2) Sept. 11.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Blount's pass from the left side was finished by junior Diego Navas (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway), making it a 1-0 Pioneer advantage in the 50th minute.
  • A misplay by the DVU goalkeeper just outside the ball left a loose ball for Blount, who chipped it into the open net for a 2-0 margin at the 60:51 mark.
  • Blount one-timed a rebound less than four minutes later, finishing the scoring.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The two goals and assist were the first points of Blount's career.
  • The strike by Navas was his fifth of the season, and second game winner of the campaign.
  • Freshman Max Snell (Laren, Netherlands/St. Vitus College H.S.) made a season-best four saves for his first career shutout.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will compete at Saint Elizabeth Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 2:00 p.m.
