Softball Throws Combined No-Hitter Against Rowan in First Round NJAC Tournament Loss

WAYNE, N.J. – Freshman Lilah Guthy (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) and sophomore Jaelynn Miller (Oxford, N.J./Warren Hills) pitched a combined no-hitter as the William Paterson softball team (23-14-1, 7-10-1 NJAC) fell to Rowan (35-4, 17-1 NJAC), 1-0, in its opening round of the NJAC Tournament. The last time the Pioneers threw a no-hitter in the NJAC Tournament was in 2015 when hosting and defeating TCNJ, 5-0, in the first round. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Rowan scored an unearned run in the first inning after a dropped fly ball and a sacrifice fly two batters later.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Graduate students Anna Nunziato (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) and Carly McDaniel (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) went 1-for-3.
  • Guthy (9-5) started for the Pioneers in the circle, pitching 3.1 innings while allowing no hits.
  • Miller relieved, tossing 2.2 innings with no hits and three strikeouts.
