Softball Drops NJAC Twin Bill to Stockton

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson softball team (20-11-1, 5-8-1 NJAC) dropped a NJAC twin bill to Stockton (21-4, 9-5 NJAC), 2-0 and 3-0, on April 22.
 
GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Stockton seized a 1-0 advantage in the first with a walk and double. The Ospreys extended the lead, 2-0, in the sixth with two singles and two fielding errors.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore Lauren Hutchison (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) hit 2-for-2 and sophomore Kylie Bythrow (Deptford, N.J./Deptford) finished 1-for-2.
  • Freshman Lilah Guthy (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) (7-3) pitched six innings while allowing three hits, two runs and securing three strikeouts.
  • Junior Gianna Mulato (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Twp.) relived, tossing one inning with one hit and one strikeout.
     
GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Stockton scored two in the first with a single and homerun. The Ospreys extended their lead to three, in the fifth, with a walk, stolen base and double.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Bythrow hit 2-for-3 and freshman Hailey Backo (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) finished 1-for-2. Hutchison and McDaniel went 1-for-3.
  • Sophomore Jaelynn Miller (Oxford, N.J./Warren Hills) (9-5) pitched seven innings while allowing five hits, three runs and recording four strikeouts.
