Men's Swimming and DIving Notches 111-69 Win Over FDU-Florham

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving (8-2) earned its third-straight win with a 111-69 victory over FDU-Florham (2-3) on Dec. 9 at Wightman Pool.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) won the 200 IM (2:13.10) and 100 back (1:00.07).
  • Senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) was victorious in the 200 free (1:57.90).
  • The Pioneers earned 11 points with efforts by Byrd, freshman Owen Kane (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), junior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) and senior Ricardo Ordinola (Lodi, N.J./Passaic County Tech), finishing the 200-medley relay in 1:59.31.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Max Russel collected a personal best in the 50 free (24.22), 100 free (55.18) and 100 breast (1:25.22).
  • Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) posted personal bests in the 1,000 free (10:48.11) and 500 free (5:16.33).
  • Arias shredded time off his personal best in the 200 free (1:57.90).
  • Senior Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) secured a personal record in the 200 free (2:17.94).
  • Apito earned a personal record in the 1,000 free (12:02.15).
  • Byrd topped his personal best in the 200 IM (2:13.10).
