THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving (7-2) earned its fourth road victory of the season with a 116-69 performance against Maritime (1-1) on Dec. 5.
 
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) was victorious in the 1,000 free (10:59.78) and 500 free (5:23.38).
  • Senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) secured first place in the 200 free (1:59.78).
  • Junior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) touched the wall first in the 100 fly (59.19).
  • Sophomore Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) earned a first-place finish in the 200 IM (2:17.07).
  • The Pioneers won the 200 free relay with efforts by Arias, freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), junior Peter Usher (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and senior Anthony Newman (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany), finishing with a time of 1:44.54.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Apito posted a personal best in the 1,000 free (12:20.48).
  • Kane chopped time off his 200 IM personal record (2:17.07).
  • Melli secured a personal best in the 100 fly (59.19).
  • Usher trimmed his personal record time in the 100 free (1:06.32).

  • William Paterson returns home on Saturday, Dec. 9 for a 1:00 p.m. meet against FDU-Florham.
