BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (5-2) earned a road victory at Brooklyn (3-1), 101-80, on Dec. 2.
TOP PERFORMERS:
·        Freshman Justin Melli (Erma, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) was victorious in the 1,000 free (11:50.07) and 500 free (5:24.80).
·        Sophomore Nicky Byrd (Purchase, N.Y./Harrison) touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:16.17) and 100 back (1:00.94).
·        Senior Brandon Arias (North Haledon, N.J./Passaic County Tech) won the 200 free (2:01.09).
·        The Pioneers earned 11 points with a victory in the 200 medley, with efforts by Byrd, senior Andrew Colligan (Andover, N.J./Sussex County Tech), junior Shane Apito (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) and freshman Max Russell (Wharton, N.J./Jefferson Twp.), finishing with a time of 1:57.61.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
·        Russell posted personal bests in the 50 free (24.78) and 100 fly (59.76).
·        Junior Peter Usher (Boonton, N.J./Mountain Lakes) earned a personal record in the 50 free (27.98).

·        William Paterson travels to Throggs Neck, N.Y. on Tuesday, Dec. 5 for a 6:00 p.m. meet against Maritime.
