WAYNE, N.J. – The top-seeded William Paterson volleyball team (26-7) fell short in the ECAC Division III Women's Volleyball Championship final, dropping a 3-0 decision to second-seeded Allegheny (24-9) Nov. 18 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Pioneers started well, scoring six of the match's first nine points, but the Gators responded with a 5-0 burst. The teams were later tied at 19-19 and 23-23, but a WP service error and ball handling error gave Allegheny an opening 25-23 win.
• The Gators opened the second set with a 10-2 run en route to a 25-16 victory.
• William Paterson built an 11-9 third-set edge before Allegheny scored seven straight and 14 of the next 15 points, as the Gators finished the match with a 25-14 triumph.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Freshman setter Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), freshman outside hitter Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and junior libero Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) were named to the ECAC All-Tournament Team.
• Miller paced the Pioneers with 13 kills, adding eight digs.
• Houpt added six digs to her 24 assists.
• Molina notched 21 digs.
• Freshman outside hitter Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) tallied 10 digs, her third double-figure total of the season.
