De La Cruz Goal Gives Women’s Soccer a 1-1 Tie at Kean

UNION, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (3-4-6, 1-2-3 NJAC) fought back for a 1-1 tie at Kean (4-7-3, 1-3-2 NJAC) Oct. 13.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Cougars struck first with a goal in the 61st minute.
  • The Pioneers answered less than four minutes later on an unassisted strike by junior Brianna De La Cruz (Clifton, N.J./Clifton), knotting the score at 1-1.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Mantilla (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) collected two saves for WP.
  • It was the first goal of the season for De La Cruz.
  • The six ties this season are a program record, surpassing the five tallied by the 2010 NCAA Tournament squad (11-5-5).
