Women's Soccer Earns Road Draw at NJCU

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (3-4-5, 1-2-2 NJAC) played to a 1-1 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road draw at New Jersey City (5-5-3, 1-2-2 NJAC) Oct. 11.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the 28th minute, junior Hailey Nelson (Elmer, N.J./A.P. Schalick) found classmate Giovanna Stull (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) sprinting down the right side of the field. Stull sent the ball over a leaping goalkeeper, off the post and into the net to put the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.  
  • The Gothic Knights evened the score in the 66th minute after a ball off a free kick was placed in front of the net and tapped in.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Mantilla (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) made a season-high 10 saves.
  • Stull recorded her first goal of the season.
  • Nelson dished out her second assist of the year.
