Second-Half Runs Send Women's Basketball Past Stockton, 60-41

WAYNE, N.J. – A pair of second-half runs made the difference as the William Paterson women's basketball team (12-8, 7-6 NJAC) cruised to a 60-41 home New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win over Stockton (10-10, 5-8 NJAC) Jan. 28 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With just over nine minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Pioneers led 24-21 before going on a 12-2 run to extend the advantage to double figures. During the run that lasted 5:45 of action, four Pioneers combined to shoot 4-of-5 (.800) from the floor, while limiting the Ospreys to just one make on eight shot attempts.
  • Stockton responded with a 7-3 run to close out the frame and trim the deficit to single digits (39-30). However, William Paterson scored eight unanswered points to open the fourth quarter and maintained the double-digit lead the rest of the way to earn the 60-41 home conference win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Junior Brianna Smith (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) extended her double-digit scoring streak to five games after tallying 10 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
