Women’s Soccer Drops Conference Opener to Rutgers-Camden

Fiorito Scores for Pioneers during 4-1 Decision

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (1-5-3, 0-1 NJAC) suffered a 4-1 loss to visiting Rutgers-Camden (2-4-1, 1-0 NJAC) Sept. 24 during both teams' New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Scarlet Raptors opened the scoring in the eighth minute, then found the back of the net during the 25th and 26th minutes for a 3-0 halftime advantage.
  • The Pioneers got on the scoreboard at the 70:15 mark when junior forward Julia Fiorito (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) finished a feed from junior midfielder Elisa Zuta (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes).
  • Rutgers-Camden finished the scoring with a goal in the 73rd minute.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Sarah Mantilla (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) produced five saves for WP.
  • Fiorito scored her third goal of the season and Zuta collected her third assist.
