Volleyball Falls Short in Four Sets at Ramapo

Pioneers Drop 3-1 Decision During NJAC Opener

MAHWAH, N.J. – During four closely-contested sets decided by a total of 18 points, the William Paterson volleyball team (4-2, 0-1 NJAC) fell short, 3-1, Sept. 13 during the conference opener at Ramapo (3-1, 1-0 NJAC).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Roadrunners won six of the final seven points for an opening 25-20 victory, but the Pioneers scored the last three points for a 27-25 second-set triumph.
  • Ramapo posted a 25-21 third-set win, and pulled away late for a 25-18 victory during the fourth set.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman setter/outside hitter Alexa Jarvis (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) had season bests of 13 kills, 12 digs and three service aces.
  • Freshman outside hitter/libero Abigail Hayth (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) also notched season highs with nine kills and 14 digs.
  • Junior libero Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) paced WP with a season-best 27 digs, and sophomore defensive specialist Ciara Feliz (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) added a career-high 11 digs.
  • Freshman setter Ava Padwelka (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) dished out a season-best 37 assists.

  • William Paterson plays at the Stevens Invitational this weekend, starting Friday, Sept. 16, against Macalester at 6:00 p.m.
