VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS 

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team fell 3-2 to Stevens in the season opener at Wightman Stadium on Sept. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Stevens took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute before Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) evened the score 10 minutes later after she hit a loose ball into the back of the cage.
• The Pioneers grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the 44th minute after Abigail Viola (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) got her own rebound off a saved shot and put one past the Stevens' goalkeeper.
• The Ducks went on to score two unanswered goals en route to securing the 3-2 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Kourtney Hartzel (York, Pa./West York Area) finished with two saves.
• Hoopes and Viola tallied their first goals of the season.
