Women's Soccer Blanks Pratt, 5-0

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (2-9-5) netted five goals and blanked Pratt (7-5), 5-0, in a non-conference tilt on Oct. 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers jumped on the board in the sixth minute after freshman Erin Clark (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) inserted a corner and sophomore Brianna De La Cruz (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) headed it into the back of the net.
  • William Paterson tacked on an insurance goal in the 13th minute once Clark found senior Gianna Labiento (Lynbrook, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) for the goal.
  • Two minutes before the first half came to a close, sophomore Abby Longergan dished the ball to classmate Giovanna Stull (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) and the Parsippany, N.J., native finished to put the Pioneers up by three, 3-0.
  • In the 68th minute, senior Haylee Baker (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) notched William Paterson's fourth goal of the night.
  • The Pioneers were the beneficiaries of a mishap by Pratt as an own goal was recorded to make it a five-goal game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • William Paterson outshot Pratt, 17-2.
  • Clark posted her first career multi-assist outing.
  • Baker, De La Cruz and Stull logged their first career goals.
  • Labiento tallied her second goal of the season.
  • Lonergan recorded her first career assist.
