Ponce Heads in OT Winner, Women's Soccer Takes Down Ramapo by 2-1 Socre

WAYNE, N.J.- The William Paterson women's soccer team (3-4, 1-2 NJAC) defeated the visiting Ramapo Roadrunners (0-7-1, 0-2-1 NJAC) 2-1 after a 93rd minute OT winner from junior back Megan Ponce (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic) Sept. 29.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior midfielder Isabel Fernandez (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) kicked off the scoring in the 22nd minute.
  • Ramapo struck back to tie the game in the 71st minute.
  • Ponce converted a header off a corner from freshman midfielder Brianna De La Cruz (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) to secure the win for the Pioneers.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Ponce scored her first goal of the season.
  • De La Cruz registered her first assist as a Pioneer.
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) recorded a season-high seven saves in the win.
