Pair of Late Goals Sink Women’s Soccer 2-1 at Rutgers-Camden

Pioneers Fall in League Game to Scarlet Raptors

CAMDEN, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (3-5, 1-3 NJAC) had the advantage early in the match, but two late goals in the second half by Rutgers-Camden (2-6-1, 1-2-1 NJAC) sunk the Pioneers 2-1 on Oct. 2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sophomore forward Julia Fiorito (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) scored the contests' first goal as long shot from the left side of the field found its way over the goalkeeper's head at the 26:13 mark to give WP the 1-0 lead.
  • William Paterson held the one goal advantage until midway through second-half, Rutgers-Camden sunk a penalty kick opportunity at the 65:25 mark to even the score.
  • The Scarlet Raptors hit the game-winning goal at the 73:02 mark for the 2-1 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) recorded two saves for the Pioneers.
