WAYNE, N.J. –With just over two minutes left to play in regulation, senior forward Abigail Viola (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) notched the game-winning goal for the William Paterson field hockey team (6-2), securing a 2-1 win against FDU-Florham (6-3) on Sept 29.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• WP struck quickly in the contest at the 2:28 mark as Viola found senior back Kelsie Murphy (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) in front of the cage to take the 1-0 lead.
• FDU wasted no time answering the William Paterson goal, scoring at the 3:41 mark to even the contest, 1-1.
• Viola's game-winner was put in the back of the cage of a rebound shot by Murphy to seal the game for the Pioneers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sophomore goalkeeper Emily Hoagland (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) made two saves and earned her first win of the season for WP.

• William Paterson will have their senior day celebration Saturday, Oct. 2, at 1:00 pm, as they host #7 The College of New Jersey.
