WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team (6-3, 0-1 NJAC) put pressure on the seventh-ranked College of New Jersey (7-2, 1-0 NJAC) with a goal just under six minutes into the contest, but the Lions would score four unanswered goals as the Pioneers dropped the 4-1 senior day decision on Oct. 2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Senior forward Abigail Viola (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) scored her eight goal of the season at the 5:52 mark as she sunk a shot from the left seam, which was assisted by senior Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) to give WP the 1-0 lead.
• The Lions answered the Pioneers' goal at the 7:22 mark, capitalizing off a penalty corner to even the score.
• TCNJ would take the lead at the 14:49 mark, converting a penalty stroke opportunity to give them the 2-1 advantage.
• The Lions would find third and fourth quarter goals to extend their lead and held off the Pioneers' attack to seal the game.

• Sophmore goalie Emily Hoagland (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) accumulated four saves for William Paterson.
• Before the game, Viola, Hoopes, Hope Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson), Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional), Alicia Mitchell (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills), Kelsie Murphy (West Milford, N.J./West Milford), Haley Olsen (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield), and Victoria Perlroth (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) were all honored during the senior day celebration.
