SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Wiilliam Paterson Field Hockey team (2-1) found themselves down two goals early in the second half but were able rally back and score three unanswered goals as the Pioneers secured the 3-2 win at Union College (2-2) on Sep. 11 in a tightly contested matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Dutchwomen put the first goal on the board mid-way through the first quarter as they found the back of the net at the 9:40 mark.
• Union would strike quickly in the third quarter as its second goal was scored at the 33:31 mark to take the 2-0 lead.
• It only took the Pioneers four minutes to answer the third quarter goal as senior back Alicia Mitchell (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills) scored at the at the 37:35 mark to cut the deficit to one.
• Graduate student midfielder Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional) would then set Mitchell up for her second goal and the equalizer at the 41:57 mark.
• Senior midfielder Megan Hoopes (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Twp.) would then score the game-winning goal at the 47:49 mark to complete the comeback for WP.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Freshman goalkeeper Kourtney Hartzel (York, Pa./West York Area) tallied three saves for WP.

UP NEXT:

• William Paterson returns to Wightman Stadium Thursday, Sep. 16 at 7:00 p.m., as they host Arcadia.
• Mitchell's two goals was a career-best performance.
