Men’s Soccer Starts 2021 Campaign with 2-2 Draw at FDU-Florham

Nole, Gadaleta Find Back of Net for Pioneers

MADISON, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (0-0-1) started its 2021 campaign with a 2-2 draw at FDU-Florham (0-0-1) Sept. 1. The game was called after the end of regulation due to lightning and the deteriorating weather conditions.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior back Anthony Nole (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) made it a quick 1-0 WP advantage, heading in a corner kick at the 1:43 mark off assists from junior back/forward Johnny Gadaleta (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and junior midfielder David Moreira (Pittstown, N.J./North Hunterdon). For Nole, it was his first goal as a Pioneer.
  • Gadaleta made it a 2-0 edge in the 26th minute, finishing a ball from sophomore midfielder/back Roger Bermejo (Passaic, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute).
  • The Devils converted a 20-yard free kick at the 28:55 mark, and then a penalty kick in the 32nd minute, to tie the score.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Thomas Hatch (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) made seven saves in goal.
 
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will face Old Westbury at the Kean Classic Saturday, Sept. 4, at 11:00 a.m.
