GALLOWAY, N.J. – A goal with 45 seconds remaining in the second and final overtime period lifted the William Paterson field hockey team (2-2, 1-2 NJAC) to a 1-0 victory at Stockton (1-4, 1-2 NJAC) during the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament semifinal round April 8.
WP will host Ramapo in the NJAC Tournament championship game Saturday, April 10, at 8:00 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Alicia Mitchell (Morris Plains, N.J./Parsippany Hills) redirected the rebound of a blocked shot, sending a high floater into the cage for the game winner at the 79:15 mark.
- Stockton's best goal-scoring opportunity came during the second quarter, but the Ospreys hit the post with a penalty stroke.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Freshman Emily Hoagland (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) made five saves for her first career shutout.
