JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The seventh-seeded William Paterson tennis team (0-7) saw its 2020-21 season come to a close following a 4-0 defeat to sixth-seeded New Jersey City (2-5) in the First Round of the first-ever New Jersey Athletic Conference  Women's Tennis Tournament April 28.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• In first doubles, the tandem of Kayla Miller (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) and Taylor Mastropasqua (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) took one game before dropping an 8-1 decision to NJCU's Giada Zorzan and Ebrahim.
• The Gothic Knights made it 2-0 as Shirley Colonia and Hana Agarrouj posted an 8-0 triumph over Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) and Shari Kafetzis (Haddon Twp., N.J./Haddon Twp.) in the second doubles flight.
• A 6-1, 6-0 win in first singles, followed by a 6-0, 6-0 decision in fourth singles sealed the match for New Jersey City.
• Mastropasqua, Shari Kafetzis (Haddon Twp., N.J./Haddon Twp.) and Brooke Sachau (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) all took at least three games in their respective singles competitions before the contest was called.
