KINGS POINT, N.Y.- The William Paterson men's basketball team (5-4) suffered a 93-85 road loss at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (3-5) on Dec. 16. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• USMMA jumped out to a 27-14 lead at the 8:10 mark of the first half.
• The Pioneers' cut the deficit to four, with a score of 34-30  with 4:27 left in the half.
• Fast forward to 6:48 left in the second half, a 10-2 run by WP tied the game at 72-72.
• USMMA went on a late run, securing the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Senior guard Nick Rodriguez (Redding, Calif./Shasta) led the Pioneers in scoring with 14 points.
• Junior forward Michael Gilmore (Teaneck, N.J./Pine Forge Academy) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
• Six Pioneers' scored in double figures.
