Women’s Soccer Plays for ECAC Tournament Crown Saturday at Home

Third-Seeded Pioneers Host Second-Seeded Stockton in the Championship Match at 12:00 p.m.

DANBURY, CONN. -- William Paterson (9-8-1, 3-6 NJAC) will look to win the program's second ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament title Saturday, Nov. 20, when the Pioneers host Stockton (14-6-3, 5-2-2 NJAC) in the championship match at 12:00 p.m. at Pioneer Soccer Park. 

HOW TO FOLLOW THE MATCH  
WHERE  
WP IN THE ECAC TOURNAMENT
  • The Pioneers are making their ninth ECAC Tournament appearance (2000, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021). WP won the 2009 title with a 2-1 overtime victory against NYU at NJIT.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • William Paterson is 9-8-1 overall and 3-6 in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play this season. WP finished the regular season by winning three of its last four matches.
  • The third seed in Pod 1, the Pioneers scored a 3-0 quarterfinal victory against second-seeded Mount Saint Mary (11-8-2, 8-1-1 Skyline) Nov. 13 in Alfred, N.Y.
  • WP then played to a 0-0 double-overtime semifinal draw at top-seeded Alfred (11-5-5, 5-1-2 Empire 8) Nov. 14. William Paterson advanced to the final thanks to a 3-2 advantage in penalty kicks.
  • A member of the 2021 All-NJAC Second Team, sophomore forward Julia Fiorito (Toms River, N.J./Toms River North) has started 15 of 18 contests, scoring a team-best six goals. 
  • A starter in all 18 contests, all three of senior back Megan Ponce's (Clifton, N.J./Paramus Catholic) goals this season were game winners as she secured second-team all-NJAC laurels.
  • Members of the All-NJAC Honorable Mention, senior forward Daniella LoBue (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) tied for the team lead with three assists while starting all 17 appearances this fall, and senior back Kayla Miller (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) had three goals and an assist while starting 17 of 18 matches this fall.
  • The Nov. 15 NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, graduate student Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) has started 17 times between the posts, recording a 1.23 goals-against average, .731 save percentage, 57 saves and five shutouts.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
  • Stockton is 14-6-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference action this fall, reaching the NJAC Tournament semifinals.
  • The second seed in Pod 2, the Ospreys defeated third-seeded Marywood (13-5-1, 6-0 Atlantic East), 3-0, in the quarterfinals Nov. 13 at FDU-Florham.
  • Stockton registered a 4-1 semifinal victory against fourth-seeded Rutgers-Newark (10-6-3, 2-5-2 NJAC) Nov. 14.
  • Senior midfielder Sydney Williams leads Stockton with seven goals and nine assists, earning first-team all-NJAC laurels.
  • A member of the All-NJAC Second Team, senior forward Jessica Heitmann owns 11 points (5 g, 1 a).
  • Senior Kylee Sullivan has compiled a 1.11 goals-against average, .783 save percentage, 83 saves and eight shutouts while starting 21 matches. 

LAST TIME THEY MET
  • A goal in the 13th minute allowed host Stockton to register a 1-0 regular-season victory against William Paterson Oct. 23.
