Men’s Soccer Overcome by No. 8 Montclair State, 3-1

Rojas Converts Penalty Kick for Pioneers

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (4-9-2, 0-6-1 NJAC) was overcome by host No. 8 Montclair State (13-1-1, 7-0 NJAC), 3-1, Oct. 17.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Red Hawks opened up an early 2-0 lead with goals in the fourth and 12 minutes.
  • MSU tacked on a third score with an unassisted strike in the 65th minute.
  • Sophomore midfielder Alfredo Rojas (Clifton, N.J./Passaic County Tech) converted a penalty kick for the Pioneers with 54 seconds remaining.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Thomas Hatch (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) collected eight saves during 78:14 of action for WP. Classmate Sean Furtek (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) played the final 11:46 between the posts.
  • Rojas' goal was his first as a Pioneer.
