NEWARK, N.J. – Despite a career-best 24 points from senior guard
Anthony Uribe (Hackensack, N.J./Bergen Catholic), William Paterson men's basketball (9-12, 5-9 NJAC) fell on the road to New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Rutgers-Newark (13-8, 9-5 NJAC), 65-53, Feb. 5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing 15-13 with under seven minutes remaining during a low-scoring opening half, a trio of WP three-pointers highlighted a 15-5 run that span 4:39 helped the Pioneers open an eight-point edge at the break, 31-23.
- After a driving layup from senior forward Henry Voorhees (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) gave William Paterson a 40-39 lead at the 10:49 mark of the second stanza, Rutgers-Newark scored 11 straight points to increase its advantage 10 (50-40, 8:03). WP would make it a one-possession game following a 7-0 burst of its own but RUN pulled away late and came away with the conference victory.

- Uribe finished 7-for-15 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line while adding three steals.
