WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (6-4, 0-1 NJAC) bested Lehman (2-5, 0-1 CUNYAC), 111-94, Jan. 11. During the meet,
Matt Infurna (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn),
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) and
Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) were honored for their contributions to the program as part of a Senior Appreciation Day celebration.
TOP PERFORMERS:
- The meet began with a come-from-behind win in the 200 medley relay. Junior Thomas Haughey (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) (30.53) and classmates Valentine Perez (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton) (32.03), Jonathan Vela (Prospect Park, N.J./Passaic County Tech) (27.10) and Honacy Beco Jr. (Wantage, N.J./High Point Regional) (25.24) combined for a 1:54.90 time and the first men's victory of the meet.
- Junior Bradley Belina (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) earned a pair of victories against the Lightning. He touched first in the 1000 free (11:36.83) and later in the 500 free (5:35.21).
- Senior Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) was also a double winner, placing first in the 200 free (1:57.72) and the 100 back (1:02.95).
- Perez took home top points in the 100 free with a time of 54.89.
- Beco Jr. touched the wall in 25.52 to place first in the 50 free.
- Vela recorded the win for the 100 fly (1:01.84).
- Senior Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) out-touched his competition in the 200 IM with a solid time of 2:14.51.
- The Pioneers concluded the meet with an upperclassmen effort in the 200 free relay. Sharkey (25.15), Infurna (28.64), Belina (27.15) and Logue (23.82) worked together for a 1:44.76 victory.
