Four Different Pioneers Find Back of Cage

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – A trio of goals from sophomore Abigail Viola (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Twp.) made up half of the Pioneer score in the William Paterson field hockey (2-2) 6-0 triumph over visiting Centenary (1-3) Sept. 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Sophomore Hope Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) pulled around the Cyclone's goalie after receiving a pass from senior Michaela Meillier (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Holy Cross) in the fifth minute to notch the game-winning goal.
  • Viola began her scoring streak by dribbling into the circle and dodging the goalie in the 11th minute.
  • Senior Brianna Reyes (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) sent in a short pass that Viola tipped in (15') to give the Pioneers a 3-0 lead at halftime.
  • To round out her points for the night, Viola successfully deflected a pass from senior Shannon Super (Oaklyn, N.J./Collingswood) into the left corner of the cage (33').
  • Meillier also scored in the third quarter when she flicked the ball into the top of the cage in the 40th minute.
  • Junior Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional) concluded the scoring with her straight shot to the cage with 20 seconds left in the third quarter.
