Quaye’s Overtime Goal Hands Men’s Soccer the Plattsburgh Tournament Title, 2-1

Pioneers Defeat Hobart in Extra Time

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Senior midfielder/forward Dromo Quaye (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) provided the game winner 52 seconds into overtime to hand the William Paterson men's soccer team (2-2-1) the Best Western Plus Cardinal Classic title with a 2-1 win against Hobart (3-1) Sept. 7.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Statesmen used an unassisted goal in the 10th minute for a 1-0 lead, but freshman back/forward Johnny Gadaleta (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) finished a pass from senior forward/midfielder Kyle Adams (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) for his first career goal and a 1-1 score at the 12:58 mark.
  • Quaye's unassisted strike was his second goal in as many days, allowing WP to improve to 2-0-1 during its last three matches.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Hatch (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) posted two saves during his collegiate debut.
 
UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson will enjoy an 11-day break, returning to action Wednesday, Sept. 18, at York (N.Y.) at 2:00 p.m.
