Bowe Sisters Provide Offense for 2-2 Women’s Soccer Double-Overtime Draw

Senior Twins Score Against FDU-Florham

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior twin sisters Kristen and Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) each found the back of the net as the William Paterson women's soccer team (2-1-1) played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw against FDU-Florham (3-0-1) during the Pioneers' home opener Sept. 7.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Devils seized a 1-0 edge with a goal off a corner kick during the 35th minute of play.
  • Senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) launched a corner kick that freshman midfielder Lindsey Ash (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Atlantic Christian) redirected towards Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls), and she finished for her first goal of the year and a 1-1 score at the 46:04 mark.
  • Senior forward Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) drove up the right side and fired towards the near post. The shot was saved, but the rebound fell to a waiting Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) in the center of the box, and she buried the rebound for a 2-1 advantage with 36:00 remaining.
  • FDU-Florham leveled the score at 2-2 eight minutes later when Erika Pita beat the keeper to a ball up the seam, and she converted to an empty net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) notched two saves in goal for WP.
  • It looked like the Pioneers netted the opening goal during the 15th minute when Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) headed a corner kick, but despite WP's immediate protests, the referee ruled that the defender inside the goal cleared the ball before it fully crossed the line.
  • A flurry in the 108th minute almost netted the Pioneers the game winner, but junior midfielder Danielle Dachowski's (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) header hit the crossbar, and junior forward Daniella LoBue's (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) follow-up was just tipped over the bar by the goalkeeper.

UP NEXT:
  • William Paterson goes to Wilkes for a 7:00 p.m. match Wednesday, Sept. 11.
