Adelman Brace Helps Women’s Soccer Roll to 3-0 Triumph at Staten Island

Corrine Bowe Adds Late Goal for Pioneers

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – A pair of Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) goals that sandwiched halftime helped the William Paterson women's soccer team (3-1-1) roll to a 3-0 triumph at Staten Island (1-2) Sept. 14.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Adelman struck twice within two minutes around the halftime break, the first a shot to the top-right corner at the 44:42 mark.
  • The senior forward made it 2-0 just 82 seconds into the second period with a shot that bounced around the defender and by the keeper's side.
  • Senior forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) added the final tally in the 65th minute, finishing Adelman's feed up the middle to the lower corner of the frame.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Brooke Sachau (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) made two stops for her first career shutout.
  • Bowe scored her second goal in as many matches.
  • Adelman improved her career totals to 53 goals, 16 assists and 122 points to rate third, tied for 10th and third, respectively, on the WP career charts.
