MADISON, N.J. – The William Paterson tennis team competed at the annual New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Tournament, hosted by Drew University Sept. 29.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Sophomore Ashley Sawyer (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) won her quarterfinal singles match in flight B, besting Drew's Sarah Noel Jeune 8-3. Sawyer would battle back-and-forth throughout her semifinal matchup, ultimately falling to Ramapo's Megha Mehta, 8-4.
• After dropping her quarterfinals match in flight B, senior Nicole D'Ascoli (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) regrouped to take her flight B consolation match, 8-2.
• In flight C, junior Danielle Nussberger (Lafayette, N.J./Sussex County Technical) earned an 8-4 decision in the quarterfinals over Kimberly Silva-Diaz of Ocean County before being ousted in the semifinals, 8-4.
• Junior Carly McDaniel (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) earned her first victory of the season in flight C consolation, downing Sarah Li of Drew, 8-0.
• In doubles action, the pairing of Claire Biennestin (Union, N.J./Union ) and Anna Nunziato (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) defeated Ocean County's Silva-Diaz and Nina Argayoso, 8-6.
