A Double-Overtime Goal from Reyes Settles Battle with DeSales, 2-1

Classmates Shannon Super and Brianna Reyes Notch Goals for the Pioneers

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After a 1-1 score at the end of regulation, senior Brianna Reyes (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) provided the game winner to help the William Paterson field hockey team (4-2) to a 2-1 double-overtime victory at DeSales (3-3) Sept. 14. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Shannon Super (Oaklyn, N.J./Collingswood) took advantage of a corner in the 29th minute by taking a shot to goal after receiving a pass from junior Kristin Freas-Papa (Westville, N.J./Gateway Regional).
  • Reyes dove at the right post to tip in a shot from sophomore Abigail Viola (Monroe Twp., N.J./Monroe Twp.) to end the double-overtime battle (72').
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior goalie Kerianne Brown (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) posted five saves.
 
UP NEXT:
  • WP heads to Arcadia for a non-conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 7:00 p.m.
