SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) found the back of the net in the 50th minute and junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) made six saves to preserve the shutout for a 1-0 William Paterson women's soccer (1-0) season-opening victory at Union (0-1) Aug. 30.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Adelman made her way along the left end line and fired to the near post at the 49:35 mark for the day's lone goal.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Hickey made four of her six stops during the second half. Her sixth shutout moved her into a tie for seventh place on the WP career chart.
• It was Adelman's 12th career game-winning goal, giving her sole possession of third place on the WP list.
