Women's Swimming and Diving Posts Five Individuals in Finals for Day Two of Mets

The 200 Medley Relay Competed in B Finals

Freshman Taylor Friedman competed in the C Final of the 100 back and swam in the 800 free relay.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  A high-scoring diving performance paired with four other individual finals rankings contributed to the women's swimming and diving team landing sixth out of 13 Division III teams and eighth of 17 total teams at the end of day two of Mets Feb 23.
 

TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Sophomore Sara Haller (Cupertino, Calif. /Monta Vista) earned 344.90 points to rank fifth in the one-meter diving finals.
  • The 200 medley relay placed third in the B Final with a time of 1:58.21.  Senior Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) (29.04), junior Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) (34.94), senior Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) (28.84) and classmate Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) (26.05) set the pace for the finals portion of day two. 
  • Reynolds competed in the B Final of the 100 back.  She finished sixth (1:02.13) while freshman Taylor Friedman (South Amboy, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) placed eighth in the C Final of the race (1:04.90).
  • Junior Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) touched the wall in 1:05.66 for seventh place in the C Final of the 100 fly.
  • Murphy notched a career-best time of 2:07.31 to take seventh in the C Final of the 200 free.
  • WP recorded a time of 9:04.37 to finish 12th in the 800 free relay.  The event was completed by sophomore Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech), Friedman, freshman Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional), and freshman Morgan Hodges (Howell, N.J./Freehold Twp.).
  • Hodges and sophomore Sarah Myers (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) both notched career-best times in the 200 free by swimming in 2:19.54 and 2:32.94, respectively. 
  • Jenkins also recorded a career-best performance by swimming the 100 breast in 1:15.78.

  • The third and final day of Mets starts tomorrow, Feb. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J.
