Women's Swimming and Diving Registers First Loss of the Season

WP was defeated by Rowan, 130-75, in conference opener

Senior Ashley Lawler placed second in both diving events.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (5-1, 0-1 NJAC) registered its first loss of the season with a 130-75 loss against Rowan (3-1, 3-0 NJAC) in its conference opener Nov. 9.

TOP PERFORMERS:

Iris Santos (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) placed second in the 50 free with a time of 27.82. The junior also placed second in the 100 free with a new personal best for the season (1:00.29).
Senior diver Ashley Lawler (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) recorded 202.75 points in the one-meter dive and 204.52 points in the three-meter dive to place second in the diving events.
Freshman Jillian Starace (Toms River/Toms River East) touched second in the 100 fly (1:13.70).
Freshman Makeda Moore (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield Academy for the Arts) notched personal-best times in the 50 free (31.52) and the 100 free (1:14.73).
The 200 free relay contributed 11 points to the Pioneer score with a time of 2:08.50. Efforts from junior Sarah Myers (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham) (33.19), Moore (31.74), freshman Stephany Bolanos (Perth Amboy, N.J./Academy for Allied Health & Biomedical Sciences) (31.95), and sophomore Leah Santonastaso (Newton, N.J./Kittatinny Regional) (31.62) boosted the WP score in the last women's event of the meet.
