Women’s Soccer Advances to ECAC Tournament Semifinals after Shootout Triumph

Pioneers Use 3-0 PKs Edge Over Albright after 1-1 Quarterfinal Draw

READING, Pa. – Thanks to a 3-0 edge during the penalty-kick shootout after a 1-1 double-overtime draw, third-seeded William Paterson (9-8-3, 4-4-1 NJAC) advanced at top-seeded Albright (13-8-1, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth) in the ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament Pod 4 quarterfinal round Nov. 17. WP will play at McDaniel in the semifinals Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11:00 a.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lions struck first with a goal in the 27th minute, but the Pioneers came up with the equalizer at the 70:06 mark. Freshman midfielder Lindsey Ash (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Atlantic Christian) lobbed a pass from 40 yards out, and senior forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) beat the defender and charging goalkeeper to the ball and skidded a shot low for her fifth goal of the season.
  • Albright started the shootout with a shot off the crossbar, and WP followed with a successful take low-right by senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus). The Lions' second attempt sailed high, and junior forward Daniella LoBue (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) made it 2-0 for the Pioneers with a shot inside the right post. Pioneer junior goalkeeper Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) saved Albright's third attempt taken to her right side, and senior midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) finished off the shootout with a conversion to the lower-left side of the frame.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Hickey finished with two saves.
