WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson football (2-8, 0-7 NJAC) closed out the 2019 season with a 42-13 Senior Day setback to No. 7 Salisbury (9-0, 7-0 NJAC) Nov. 16.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson got on the scoreboard when freshman running back Terrique Riddick (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) rushed from five-yards out to cap off a 16-play, 74-yard drive late in the first half (28-6, 0:55).
  • Senior Quarterback Tracy Fudge, Jr. (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) connected with junior tight end William Frese (Waldwick, N.J./Waldwick) on an 11-yard scoring strike with 5:49 remaining in the contest.
  • Salisbury got touchdown runs from quarterback Jack Lanham, running back Mike-Ryan Mofor and running back Shamar Gray during the first quarter to lead 21-0 after 15 minutes.
  • The Sea Gulls got a three-yard rush by Hopeton Mair and a 36-yard scamper by Devon Fowlkes to make it 35-6 at intermission.
  • Mofor's second touchdown of the game, an eight-yard run, capped off the Sea Gull scoring.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Fudge closed out his Pioneer career by going 14-of-22, for 118 yards and touchdown.
  • Riddick ended the afternoon with 45 yards on 25 carries, while Frese led all players with four receptions and 44 yards.
  • Senior linebacker Andrew Anthony (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) registered a team-high nine tackles (seven solo), and classmate Tyler Gross (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland) collected six stops (1.5 TFL), a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
  • Freshman RJ Massey (Bridgeville, Del./Woodbridge) added four tackles and an interception, while freshman cornerback Devyn Blount (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) matched his season-best with six stops.
  • Prior to the game, WP honored its 12 seniors – linebacker Andrew Anthony (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay), offensive lineman Teslim Bakarr (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro), quarterback Tracy Fudge, Jr. (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge), defensive back Tyler Gross (Pomona, N.Y./North Rockland), quarterback Cornelius Kinchen (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy), wide receiver Brandon Matulac (New Milford, N.J./New Milford), wide receiver Jared Reale (Waterford Works, N.J./Solid Rock Christian School), defensive lineman Dan Tomzick (Stockholm, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), quarterback Mike Yarosz (Montague, N.J./High Point Regional) and defensive lineman Brandon Yaw (Roxbury, N.J./Roxbury).
