READING, Pa. – Junior midfielder
Danielle Dachowski (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) provided all of the Pioneers' offense as third-seeded William Paterson (9-8-2, 4-4-1 NJAC) upset second-seeded Wilkes (8-9-1, 4-3 MAC Freedom), 2-1, during the ECAC Women's Soccer Tournament Pod 4 first round Nov. 16.
WP advances to face host and top-seeded Albright in the quarterfinals Sunday, Nov. 17, at 12:00 p.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dachowski headed in senior midfielder Lorraine Moffitt's (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) corner kick to hand the Pioneers a 1-0 edge in the 16th minute.
- The Colonels leveled the score at the 52:22 mark, but Moffitt looped a pass over the top from 35 yards out and Dachowski brought it down and one-timed it to inside the left post in the 60th minute. Her seventh goal of the season made it a 2-1 edge.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Junior Erica Hickey (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) collected six saves.
- Moffitt increased her team-leading assists total to eight this season, putting her into a tie for ninth place on the WP single-season list.
