Men's Basketball Never Trails During an 86-66 Victory Over Sarah Lawrence

Five Pioneers score in double digits during the win

SCRANTON, Pa. – Senior forward Henry Voorhees (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) matched his career-high with 14 points as five Pioneers scored in double figures during an 86-66 William Paterson men's basketball (2-0) victory over Sarah Lawrence (1-1) in the opening round of the Hilton Scranton Invitational Nov. 15.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson dominated the opening frame, knocking down seven three-pointers and hitting 11-of-12 (.917) from the charity stripe to take 42-26 halftime lead.
  • The Pioneers continued their sharpshooting in the second frame, going 17-for-34 (.500) from the field and led by as many as 30 (81-51, 5:12) before settling on the 20-point triumph.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Voorhees collected six rebounds and two blocks to go along with his 14 points, while classmate Sean Smith (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo) poured in 23 tallies to lead all scorers.
  • Senior Anthony Uribe (Hackensack, N.J./Bergen Catholic) added 10 points, six rebounds and career-high eight assists. Juniors Malcolm McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Eastern Christian) (13) and Nick Rodriguez (Redding, Calif./Shasta) (10) each scored in double digits for the first time this season.

  • WP will challenge host Scranton in the championship round Saturday, Nov. 16 at 4:00 p.m.
